Running for VP

We spent last weekend in Disneyland. We had a great time. We rode the old fashioned car around Main Street. When we got on the car, there were three women on the car that were interested in talking with our children. When the women learned the names of our children they told us, "with names like that, you should be running for Vice President!"

Lunch

I had the best lunch today. I went to Cafe Rio with my BFF and three of the cutest kids! The food was good but the company was great. How fun is it to reflect on the days when we were carefree high school girls and now we are MOMS!! I just really enjoyed lunch. Thanks, Aim.

Photo Tag

Ya gotta show us the 6th photo from your 6th picture file.

Here's mine:

Ridge loves to put on any shoes he can, so if that means red patent leather with your chocolate cover jammies, then by all means, LET'S DO IT!

I tag everybody checking on our blog! Can't wait to see your pictures!

Running update

In hopes to encourage myself along my path to running a race, I have counted my miles. Since mid August, I have run/walked 71.03 miles. I won't say that it is easy or my favorite thing to do but, I can see I am improving. I don't know if I could do it without my trainer asking how my running is going or my uncle. My uncle has been taking me out weekly to check my progress and push me a little harder. Holy Cow! I am thankful he knows CPR! Luckily, he hasn't had to use it and I would like to keep it that way.

I need to pick a date to run a 5k. I think something after Christmas. At least then if not sooner. How does that sound for definite?

Good Morning, Sunshine.

Does your day start with the sweet gurgles and chatter of your little one? Maybe a nice, "Momma, I'm 'wake!"

Monday morning, I heard my sweet one yelling with all he could, "Amy! Open the door!"

Loved this

Sometimes the Lord calms the storm
Sometimes He lets the storm rage and He calms His children
I stole this from a friend's blog. Thanks, Sherrill!

Fall at the Gardners'

In case you don't make it by in the next few weeks, here are our fall decorations.
The pumpkins may rot and the flowers might die so take a look now, or stop by!
If you come by at night, Rob has his special dark lights out, and a fantastic strobe light (can you hear my sarcasm), and don't forget the black light inside the house because really, who should go without a black light in their living room? Have a great fall, enjoy the harvest of blessings you reap, and love one another a little more.

My favorite, garlands on the banister

Fancy Shoes

"Come on, Emma, get the Fancy Shoes!"

Water issues

We have been experiencing a great amount of discovery by our youngest boy. Four times in the last two days, Ridge has been found on the kitchen counter in a puddle of water rinsing some dishwear item. Or, you may call it playing in the water. We have faucets that turn so that water can go directly on the countertop instead of into the sink! Lucky us! There has been no excuse or explanation by Ridge, which surprises me that he hasn't had something to say.

Last night, I heard the sound of splashing water. Ridge, was in the living room standing over a puddle of ice water and an overturned cup. "Dumpee out," was all we got.

I hope this water phase doesn't last long.

Happy Birthday, Dad

This Saturday we celebrated my dad's 60th birthday. We had a really great party. We had family fly in from Minnesota, drive in from New Mexico, and drive from all parts of Vegas. There was a time during the celebration where toasts were made, stories shared, and tears shed about a man that I have always admired. My dad is a really great guy. I have learned so many things from Dad and I look forward to many more years of gaining from his wisdom.

Happy Birthday. I love you, Dad.

Ode to the 80's

Remember when we had toys that weren't sewn into the packaging? Remember when you could put in batteries without a tool or two? You could even take out the 9-volt and lick it to see if it zapped your tongue. (Thanks to my two uncles for that info) Remember when toys lasted?

Well, I saved my Barbie Corvette. Why keep it for years and years? Probably so my daughter could play with it. Why would she want to play with a vintage toy? Why when she has more than she could possibly play with? I Don't Know. But I did and I got it out, cleaned it up, peeled of the brittle stickers and marveled at the simplicity of toys back then. It doesn't honk, toot, rev, or sing. (Wouldn't that be nice to have a quiet toy these days!) It was a novelty received well by all three children and quickly put into play.

This beauty came with a CB, and a tape deck!
