Since introducing my mom to the blogging world, we have schemed and planned some fun projects jointly and singularly. Mom brought this one to us for a quick afternoon activity. It was fun but did spill over to another day. I am glad it did because it gave me time to find the perfect punch to complete the project.
We gathered at Jay's house to do our craft, visit, lunch, and swim. We prepped and got to painting for our butterfly project. We used the always classy black garbage back to protect the granite!
Paint the canvas
Paint the water color paper

After all of the painting is dry, you take a butterfly punch and punch our beautiful butterflies and attach them to the canvases. Well, it was getting late, the butterflies were taking forever to punch out and we still have to eat, swim, and do our hot rocks.
We put some smooth flat rocks in the oven and then drew/painted/wrote on the rocks with crayons. It was a fun project. I think you might have been able to forgo the oven in Vegas is you found your rock in the sunshine!
We finished off with a swim and a haircut. About this time, the clouds rolled in (because it ALWAYS rains in Henderson--of course!) and we headed home so the kids could pack their bags and have a sleep over at Grandma and Grandpa's. Big plans and dreams of fishing, boating, and hiking!
